Great Knitted Gifts - WOW!

Image: Great Knitted Gifts

I just wanted to share my experience with this book and the authors & editors. I ordered the book over the internet and was thrilled with the projects and gorgeous photography. There are some very fun ideas in this book. However, upon reading the patterns for each project I found that the yardage for each yarn was not given...anywhere! Since I do not have access to an unlimited stash of homespun 100% wool (or any other yarn for that matter!) I was a bit disappointed. Sure, I could guess but what a potential disaster. Why set myself up for failure? Before sending the book back, I sent a quick message to the Editors with every thought that they would ignore my plea for help. Sadly, that has been my experience with too many companies these days. To my surprise, I received an immediate response with an attached list of the necessary yarn needed for each project contained in the book, and....get ready for this...an apology! I certainly didn't need the apology but how nice of them to send one. I am left absolutely impressed with Chapelle Ltd. and the authors, Andrea and Gayle Shackleton. I am so excited about starting some of these projects but had to take the time to recommend such a wonderful book created by people who truly care about their knitting customers!

Still stitching away...

I am still in the finishing stages of the Felted Floral Purse and am really looking forward to seeing the finished project. I broke down and purchased an I-cord machine knowing that it will get plenty of use and just might speed up the progress of my purse. I have put Ruffles away for a little bit. It is an easy project to take along on errands, etc., so I will plan to do just that this summer. Clapotis is coming along as well. I actually took it to a Sox game (I'm a Cubs fan so knitting through this game seemed the natural thing to do) but it was so chilly that I didn't even consider getting the needles out. I am itching to drop the first stitches in the pattern! I am still hoping that the cotton yarn I chose will have the right drape when I am finished. Lorna's Laces were a bit out of my budget this time. On to rummaging up something for dinner. Happy knits!

Yummy socks!

They are finally finished. I just LOVED this yarn and will look forward to knitting another pair very soon. These are on their way to my mother for a belated Mother's Day gift. Socks are such a great project to tote around. I had to get over the "doing the whole thing twice" deal (I just hate to do things more than once!). However, it was well worth it.

run away bride

OK, all judgement aside for this young bride to be, I had to be envious of all the knitting time one might have on a bus trip from Georgia to New Mexico. My mind was spinning as I dreamed of the Winter Cotton blanket I would have completed at the end of such a trip! I also had to believe (assuming she knit the striped blanket covering her head) that she must feel much better after so many hours with knitting needles in her hands. Afterall, knitting is the best medicine! I hope she works it all out and is able to knit under better circumstances very soon.
